This was my very first attempt at creating something online for The Pinion. I had found an article written in around the 70s from The Pinion archives, and I thought it would make an interesting post to inform my school about. This taught me how to write a caption for photos online in order to get a lot of information in a way that is easily comprehended by our audience. Looking back, I have improved a lot on this. My subject matter is much more relevant, and I have learned to write with colorful, attention-grabbing language.

This was an example of both my leadership and mentoring. The Pinion had implemented a system for something we were doing at the time called the Daily Pinion. Each person was responsible for a specific day of the week and there was one person responsible for making sure that everyone posted something for their designated day. This helped me grow specifically with my deadlines and paying attention more to what was happening in my community. I had done my assignments often at the last minute when the system was first put in place, but I eventually got the hang of managing my time better in order to post more comfortably with more time.

I had taken on the challenge of making posts honoring Media Literacy Week. This was a great opportunity that I felt would educate people on Journalism and what we do. It could help the students of our school have a better understanding of the journalism process to gain more credible from my audience in a way that engages them. I got the editorial board involved so that they were able to share their definitions of each step of the journalism process as well as give advice to people. These posts were also a great way to advertise for incoming freshman to join Newswrting!
